BRYANT, AL: The Nation lost one of its finest on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020 when Wesley Hope Kennemore, Chief Petty Officer, retired, United States Navy, took his final voyage across the Crystal Sea.

Wes was a devoted husband and best friend of 59 years to his bride, Mavis, and passed just a few days short of his 79th birthday (June 3, 1941). He is also survived by his two sons, Wesley Ron (Linda) of Pelham, AL; Malcolm Eugene (Cynthia) of Harrison, TN; grandchildren Tyler, David (Beth), and Lyssette Woodke (John), three great-grandchildren, seven brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Paralee Kennemore; sisters Alene Lewis and Elaine Nelms; brother Joe C. Kennemore.

Born and raised in New Hope, TN he joined the Army at the young age of 15, later transferring to the Navy from which he retired in 1976. His second career was as a Nuclear Security Officer for the Tennessee Valley Authority. In his golden years he enjoyed traveling with Mavis, spending time with his grandchildren, and serving his community and as a deacon at White Oak Baptist Church.

His life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32, “be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving each other, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” He loved his family and instilled in his sons strong values and faith. Wes was a friend to all whose lives he touched and will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM EDT Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the White Oak Baptist Church with Brother Jeff Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
