Mrs. Joanna Massey Taylor, born October 1, 1933, died peacefully while being cared for by her aide Lisa and nurse Rita on the morning of March 11, 2020 at the age of 86 at NHC Healthcare in Ft Oglethorpe, GA. Moore’s Funeral Home in Trenton, Ga respectfully cared for and attended the funeral arrangements. Mrs. Taylor, lovingly known as Jo, will be missed by all who knew her. She touched the lives of so many friends and family throughout the years, and especially impacted the children who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Massey and Mary Johnson Massey, as well as her Husband Harlan Taylor, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jo’s memory will live on through the minds and hearts of her sister-in-law Vonnie Taylor Sharpton, numerous friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. Pallbearers honored to carry Mrs. Taylor were cousins Larry Everett, Barry Everett, Rufus (Freddy) Massey, Tracy Massey, Daniel Massey and very close friend and neighbor Curtis Smith. She had a graveside service at Hawkins Cemetery with the reading of the 139th Psalm which was her favorite, by her friend and cousin Walter Brannon. Jo was honored and her life celebrated by those who knew her well. Short memories and funny stories were shared by Walter Brannon, Daryl Massey, Sylvia Everett Brannon, Elaine Blaylock Thomas, Connie Ward, Winfred Rufus (Freddy) Massey Jr., Curtis Smith and Winfred Massey Sr. The service closed in a word of prayer.

Bryant, AL: Thomas Milton Hill, age 84, passed away on March 12, 2020. He was born April 3, 1935 in Guntersville, AL to the late Horace and Elsie Hill.


He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who would sacrifice anything to care for his family. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Cooper Hill, his parents and brother James L. Hill.


He is survived by his daughters Melissa (Toby) Lance, Vicky (Randy) Pemberton and Tanzie (Ricky) Hodge; sisters Ruby (Danny) Pendergrass and Wendy (Paul) Sims; brothers Monroe (Cricket), Kenneth (Judy) and Charles (Cathy) Hill; grandchildren Heather (Daniel) Wittum and Nick (Jenna) Hodge; great-grandchildren Sadie Wittum, Ella and Emma Hodge; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 EDT on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Moore Funeral Home in Bryant, AL with Bro. Edwin Spurgeon officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 to 9:00 EDT and on Sunday from 11:00 to 1:00 EDT at Moore Funeral Home Bryant, AL.

David Zachary “Doggie” Harris, 68, of Middle Valley, TN, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020.


David was a 1970 graduate of Kirkman Technical High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served 1971 – 1973. He was employed with U.S. Pipe & Eureka Foundry and attended the St. Elmo Seventh-day Adventist Church. David was preceded in death by his parents, Carles & Emma Lou Harris.


Survivors include his brothers, Dana Harris of Red Bank, TN, and Paul Harris of Chattanooga.
