HIGDON AL: Betty Jean Millican, age 69 went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and was a member of Kennemer Baptist Church.

There was nothing she enjoyed more than serving the Lord, working in her flowers from sun up to sun down and spending time with her family, mainly spoiling her grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking for others, and nobody could make a blueberry cake or fried apple pie like Betty Jean. Another one of her favorite things was snow and how fitting that God would cover her flowers that had already bloomed with such a beautiful snow the day He called her Home. Her favorite bible verse was Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Mama waited on the Lord and he renewed her strength.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ocie Milford and Linnie Knight Gore; son-in-law, Ken Kirkland; granddaughter, Destiny Cagle.

Survivors include her loving family, husband of 51 years, Dwight Millican; daughters, Stephanie (Troy) Prichett, Angela Antoinette Millican, Vivian Dawn Millican, Leslie (Mark) Starkey and Autum Kirkland; son, John Morgan Millican; sister, Rhonda Dennis Gore; brothers, Charles Stoney (Rita) Gore, Carl Gore and James Gore; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
