Raymond P. Davis, 84, of Trenton, GA, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2020 in a local health care facility. He was a devoted husband and father and a Godly man of integrity.


Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Levi & Lillie Mae Powell Davis, son, Tim Davis, & daughter, Sandy Maynard.


Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Joan Davis; children, Kathy Davis Nerney of Trenton, GA, Debbie (Harlon) Garner of Rainsville, AL, & Doug (Dedra) Roose of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren, Jacob Davis, Joshua Nerney, Megan Nerney, Shane Frazier, Ryan Frazier, Rachel Platts, & Aaron Roose; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Alice Gagliard; brother, Kenneth Ray Davis; several nieces & nephews.

Chattanooga, TN: Betty Jean Morris passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the age of 83. She was the former Betty Jean Dobbins, Daughter of the late Rosteen and Sam Dobbins. She was preceded in death by her husband, George (Jimmy) Morris.


Betty Jean was born in Higdon, Alabama on December 17, 1936. She grew up on Sand Mountain, where she graduated from Pisgah High School. After marrying, she and Jimmy lived in Bryant, and then moved to Carrollton, Georgia to raise their family. After they retired, they came back to Sand Mountain to live on the mountain and farm they loved.


Betty Jean loved her family and took care of everyone. She loved beautiful flowers and roses were her favorite. She and Jimmy loved going to auctions and collecting antiques. She was a wonderful wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was “Mama B” to her grandchildren and cherished her time with each of them. There was no greater joy for her than to be able to take care them. In fact, she wanted to be wherever her grandchildren were!


She is survived by her daughters Deborah Miley of Perry, GA, Donna (Jim) Cunningham of Warner Robins, GA, Angela (David) Long of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Coney Cunningham, Mary Glynn Miley, Cammie Cunningham, William Long; sister Joan (Jim) Hixon and brother Sammy Dobbins.


Funeral services will be held in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4, at 11:30AM with Brother Jim Hixon officiating.

Visitation will be from 10:30AM – 11:30 AM. Interment following at Flat Rock Methodist Cemetery.


The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and Manorhouse Assisted Living and Memory Care for their kind and loving care for both Betty Jean and Jimmy.

TRENTON, GA: Martha Marie Jones, age 84, passed away January 30, 2020. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Martha was of the Christian faith and enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin “Bill” Jones; parents Thomas and Mary Shelton; sister and brother-in-law Burma and Billy Plumlee, and sister Jackie Clark.


Survivors include her daughters Debbie (Jimmy) Thacker (FL), Carolyn (Byron) Ballard (Trenton), Vivian (Dale) Whitmire (Trenton), Nancy (Kenny) Jeffery (Trenton); sons Billy (Samiya) Jones (Trenton), Darryl Jones (Trenton); twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, sisters Mildred Hollingsworth (Trenton), Edna (Ernie) Redger (MO), Darlene Chastain (AL), Tene Bolton (Trenton); brothers T.J. Shelton (Trenton), Leonard (Ruth) Shelton (Trenton); nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM EST Saturday, February 1, 2020 in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Wooten officiating. Interment will be held in Gib Doc Cemetery.


Family will receive friends Friday 3:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM EST; Saturday 9:00 AM ~ 11:00 AM EST.
