HIGDON, AL: Oliver Eugene Edgeworth, age 84, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away, Thursday, October 17, 2019 at his residence. He was a longtime employee of Moore Funeral Home and member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver B. and Lucille Edgeworth; son, Billy Edgeworth; brothers, Ronald Edgeworth and O.B. Edgeworth; sister, Lois Williams.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Judy Edgeworth; son, Wayne (Zella) Edgeworth; grandson, Brian (Shonda) Edgeworth; great grandchildren, Alex (Lori) Edgeworth, Hayleigh (D.J.) Higgins, Brenlyn Edgeworth and Brooklyn Edgeworth; great great grandchildren, Marley, Kiera, Tara Higgins, Riley and Parker Edgeworth; and a host of friends.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM EDT Sunday, October 20, 2019 in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother David Moses officiating. Burial will be held in Gibdock Cemetery.

Evelyn Veal Bowden, 85, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, the West Brow Community, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 in a local hospital.


Evelyn was born on August 29, 1934 to the late E. J. & Ollie Veal on Lookout Mountain and was a graduate of Rossville High School class of 1952. For many years she was the owner and operator of several restaurants, including the Ruby Falls Snack Bar, the West Brow Diner, and Arrow Rock Restaurant. Golfing was her favorite hobby and one of her greatest honors was getting a hole-in-one at Big Sandy Golf Course. She was also a private caregiver and served on the Dade County School Board where she served as board chairperson. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Holiness Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bowden, sisters, Martha Mae Veal & Imery Jean Dabbs, and brothers, Virlon & Melvin Veal.


Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine & Tex Powell; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy & Cyndy Bowden, and Bruce & Tolitha Bowden, all of Lookout Mountain; grandchildren, Lee, Blake, Matthew & Nicholas Bowden, Adam Powell, and granddaughter, Bridgette Meyer; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Estel Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.

DUTTON, AL: Gregory “Greg” Lebron Lea, age 49, passed away October 16, 2019. He was a machine operator at Sanoh in Scottsboro, AL.


Survivors include his son, Rory Lea of LaFayette; parents Roy and Effie Earline Lea; sisters Kathy (Chris) Moore, Janet Sanders, and JoAnn Lea; brother Michael Lea; three grandchildren Ansley Blackmon, Braydon Lea, and Arabella Lea.


Funeral services will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 7:00 PM EDT in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Michael Clark officiating.


Visitation will be held Friday 4:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM at the Bryant Chapel.
