Betty Jo Hunt Ayers, age 89, passed away in Chattanooga, TN on Tuesday, July 9, surrounded by family. She was born on December 14, 1929 in Wildwood, GA and lived her entire life there. She was a graduate of Dade County High School and Edmonson School of Business.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Clifford (J.C.) Ayers, of Wildwood, GA; her parents Claude and Josie Patterson Hunt of Wildwood, GA; several brothers and sisters.


Survived by two sons Larry and Eric Ayers both of Wildwood, GA; one daughter Diane Ayers (Allen) Hoffman of Kennesaw, GA; one grandson Jason (Dana) Pless; great-grandsons Phoenix, Noah, Wyatt and Hudson Pless all of Canton, GA; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.


Mrs. Ayers was a devoted wife, a doting mother, a loving grandmother and a loyal friend to many who knew her. She was a businesswoman who co-owned North Georgia Heating and Air for 28 years and a lifelong member of the Wildwood Methodist Church. She also served at various times as the church treasurer and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Ayers was long active in school activities such as the local PTA. She also worked as a volunteer for Ben Haden and the Changed Lives organization at the First Presbyterian Church in Chattanooga, TN. She was dearly loved by her family, relatives and friends and will be greatly missed.


Betty and J.C. led a blessed life and were able to travel the world in their younger years. Traveling was one of Betty’s passions and always brought back artwork and memorabilia form all over the world. She also took up painting as a hobby in her retired years and always enjoyed her time with her Dade County Senior friends in Trenton, GA.


Our family’s appreciation goes to Mrs. Ayers niece, Mary Babb, for her love, dedication and hard work as Betty’s part-time caregiver. We would also like to thank the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their kindness and care.


A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 12th at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Reese Fauscett officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00 AM until service time at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton.

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GA: Dolly Marie Morgan, age 93, passed away July 10, 2019. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and attended Tiftonia Holiness Church.

.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Morgan; parents James and Dora Wooten; nine siblings.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Starlyn and Ellene Morgan and Leslie and Regina Morgan, all of Bryant, AL.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Shirley Byrum and Brother Royce Cornelison officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

General Gene Herron, 83, of Rising Fawn, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his residence.


General Herron was born in Cartwright, TN and retired from Tipton Steel Electrical and was a member of the Ironworker’s Local 704 (1967 – 2001) Chattanooga, TN. He was a member of the Rising Fawn Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hytha Herron and siblings, Lois Layne, Charles Herron, Delbert Ray Herron, Frank Herron, Don Herron, Sue Johnson, and Joann Triplett.


Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Jane Heatherly Herron, 3 daughters, Melissa “Missy” (Rick) Breeden, Rising Fawn, GA; Laura Herron, Flintstone, GA; Lisa Davidson, Flintstone, GA; 1 son, Tracy (Macara) Herron, Higdon, AL; sister, Anna Mae Martin, Dunlap, TN; several loving grandchildren along with nieces & nephews.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9th at 12 Noon in the chapel of Ryan Funeral Home with Minister Larry Judd and Minister Jim Shadwach officiating with interment in the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 pm.
